EDITING
Since 2011, I have worked with both seasoned and first-time authors to hone and revise their manuscripts. As a developmental editor, I focus on craft, story arc, and narrative flow, helping writers to reach their full potential and ready their books for publication.
It has been my privilege to work on award-winning memoirs and groundbreaking essay collections.
Highlights include:
•The Woman in the Photograph: The Search for My Mother's Past, by Mani Feniger. Feniger's account of unearthing her mother's lost German-Jewish past won the 2013 Best Memoir Award from the Bay Area Independent Publisher's Association.
• Love InshAllah: The Secret Love Lives of American Muslim Women, by Ayesha Mattu & Nura Maznavi (Soft Skull Press). Due to the success of this critically acclaimed essay collection, Mattu & Maznavi published a sequel.
I work with both self-published and traditionally published authors, and in all cases I offer follow-up support services. This might include collaborating on a book proposal, or helping an indie author to navigate the complex process of self-publishing.
I also offer line and copyediting, which can be combined with a developmental edit, or done independently.
Please email me for rates and availability.
GHOSTWRITING
After twenty years as a professional writer and journalist, I am now available for ghostwriting. While I could probably tackle any subject at this point, I am most interested in collaborating on personal and spiritual memoir, and books on health and wellness.
If you have a project in mind, please email me with details.
MANUSCRIPT ASSESSMENTS
If you're in need of detailed feedback, I also offer manuscript assessments. In a 6-8 page written critique, I assess the manuscript's overall strengths and weaknesses, analyze plot and character development, and offer concrete suggestions for improvement.
The flat rate for an assessment is $2,000.
